Cognitive Maps of Manhattan

Directionally challenged people often struggle to make sense of (and use) maps drawn by cartographers and others. Sometimes, it’s fun to let go of the fear and stress associated with map reading to try something completely different.

For instance, New Yorker Becky Cooper distributed hundreds of blank maps of Manhattan and asked recipients to fill in the maps with whatever best captures their experience of the city. This New York Times interactive article shows some of what she got back.

What would you put on a map to capture your experience of your home town or city?
